“Steve literally worked miracles with our dogs! Two months ago I was frantically searching for help with our rescue dog Gracie. She was 16 months old and had developed dog on dog aggression issues with our 6 year old dog Zoe. The aggression became increasingly violent. It was recommended by another trainer that we re-home her. We were devastated! After many phone calls and much research I found Steve. He was amazing! He agreed to see us the next day. His quiet demeanor, expertise and knowledge of how and why dogs do what they do makes him a true dog whisperer. Two months later we have a happy – stress free home with two dogs that we love! Thank you Steve.”
“After taking several classes and hiring another in home trainer, I was still not satisfied with my Goldens’ results. I could not take her out in public places like parks or the beach or Panera bread without her becoming so nervous and jumpy. Steve with his quiet demeanor and positive reinforcement has taught me how to have successful outings. Now we can take her everywhere with us and she is so well behaved! I wish we had met him in the beginning of our training. We will certainly use him when we get our new golden puppy and face the challenges of handling two dogs in these environments. I highly recommend him as a trainer.”
“Wonderful organization I enrolled my 4 month old Australian Shepard into their 3 week program they picked up an unruly puppy we couldn’t do a thing with and returned us a fun loving eager to please pup. She is so secure in herself now understanding whats expected of her. Steve & Ilana kept me up to date with pics & texts on her progress & spent time giving our whole family clear instructions on how to maintain her progress. I plan to use them again in the near future to continue Hailey’s training. Thank you!”
“Steve was so informative, helpful and really a bank of knowledge. I find myself sharing dog behavior tips and ideas with all my friends and family members and I’m constantly quoting Steve to my kids and husband whenever the dogs don’t do what they want. Dog training is a big job and it takes commitment on the owners part but I feel like I have a partner anytime I need it with Tropical Dog Training. Scheduling was a breeze and Steve was always there at the exact appointment time we set. I would highly recommend Tropical Dog Training if you want your dog to truly be a member of the family that can be around anyone and under control at all times.”
“Phenomenal ! We are a married couple traveling the country in an RV and Steve drove to Tampa for one visit then to Naples for a second then a third and final visit. At first I was skeptical. I wondered how could he possibly achieve success and give us satisfaction. We were impressed on the 1st visit. By the second visit we had a new dog. My wife and I want to volunteer at humane societies to train dogs to be more adoptable. We walked away with not only our well trained dog but with a wealth of knowledge. We couldn’t walk our dog peacefully. She pulled. We couldn’t walk her in campgrounds around other dogs because she was very aggressive. She has now learned to give paw and is well behaved. Thanks so much Steve!”
“Steve is the best dog trainer we have ever worked with, he gets results! Steve goes above and beyond in customer service and our dogs training is above expectation. Now our dog loves to be boarded with him and gets so excited to see him.”
“We are so lucky to have found Steve Cohen and Tropical Dog Training! Steve came to the house three times to train our new puppy and 8 year old dog, we are amazed with the results. Over the course of just a few weeks, the puppy learned off, sit, lay down, stay, how to walk properly on a leash and to go to his “place” when we have guests over. Steve gave us great tips on ways to potty train and how to manage the older dog with the puppy. We would highly recommend Steve to anybody and look forward to continuing the training program he outlined for us.”
“I started working with Steve in September to get help with my 8-year-old pit bull Oreo. She was rescued from an abusive situation, lived in the ASPCA shelter system for a good while and then has lived an excellent – but overprotected – life with me ever since. Hence, her main issue is about socialization with just about anyone other than me.
“I’ve had two lessons with Steve, both of which were highly successful. On the first lesson, Oreo was walking and interacting with him alone and at the end of the second lesson, she was eating treats from his hand. Of course, you will not have these issues with a puppy, however, to me, it demonstrates his calm and patient character, which dogs are sensitive to, as well as his extensive knowledge and experience. The fact that he was willing to take her on speaks volumes.
“In all my interactions with Steve, he has always taken more than enough time to educate me about why, answer my questions, and even provide me with additional resources. Steve can teach and guide us but we are ultimately the ones who must maintain pack leader position. It’s nice to have a kind and supportive person on the journey.”
“I highly recommend Steve, I had an a dog with an aggressive issue and with Steve’s guidance and our consistent training I feel like I have a new dog. I think you will find him and his training techniques in a positive manner and know your puppy will be in good hands.”
“Ludo is doing great and we are constantly singing your praises and sharing your contact info. At our neighborhood dog park, his nickname is “The Valedictorian” because he is one of the only dogs that will listen to our commands even while in the middle of playing with other dogs. We are always being stopped by people who ask how old he is, and are shocked to know he is only a puppy because of his obedient behavior. We just filmed him the other day doing obedience work and tricks to show our families back in Naples. He is now six months old but he has been listening to us ever since our first session at 12 weeks old. Brian and I are always saying how much more fun and enjoyable Ludo is now that we know how to work with him. We are now looking for avenues to highlight Ludo’s trainability such as agility or flyball. He is an asset to our lives, not a source of stress and frustration, thanks to you!”
Craig and I want to thank you for training our Golden Retriever. We are now able to walk her anywhere without her pulling on the leash. She also does not run after people and animals anymore what a relief. Your kind and loving ways of training are exactly what our dog needed and we are so very grateful for all you have done in that regards. She was a good dog but now she is a GREAT dog because of you. Many thanks.
“We have owned dogs [and by the way, cats, horses, cattle, pigs and chickens] since the early 1980’s. Teddy, our Lakeland Terrier, is our ninth dog. Although we have had a number of Airedale Terriers this is our first experience with the Lakeland. I think it would be fair to say that this breed is a bit more headstrong. As a result we wanted to make sure we had a very good “basic training” experience which we would be able to build on.
“We spent a considerable amount of time looking at different training programs and we settled on your operation because we have experience with e-collars and because we very much liked your approach with animals. We were also impressed with your resume.
In the end its results that count and we are very pleased with the work you did with Teddy. We still have a headstrong dog BUT we have a headstrong dog that is interested in obedience and is therefore easy to continue training. As you know we have continued to work with Teddy on his obsession with the swimming pool. Based on your training and recommendations we now have control over this and it is a very comforting feeling indeed. We are also able to walk Teddy off leash on the beach and he will ignore distractions and come when called. It’s pretty impressive to watch a dog who is running down the beach away from you come to a screeching halt and turn to run back. We are happy and Teddy is happy. That’s all that counts!
Thanks for your help and guidance.
“Pepper is an absolute joy to be with. She still has a few “moments” where we do not communicate well, but all in all she is great. My daughter and I took her to the dog park Saturday and while she wasn’t perfect she had a great time and responded well to our commands with all the outside stimulation. The kids are much more relaxed with her and our walks are very enjoyable. I can’t thank you enough for helping me make her a part of our family.”
Steve, thought I would drop you a note to let you know how well Beau is doing. He has been exceptionally strong with wait and place, and is doing well with coming when called. We have been working every day, and enjoying well mannered walks. Both Lori and I are amazed at how beautifully he responds on our walks. Frankly, we have hardly had to correct him at all. (Although he does respond immediately when corrected). Thank you so much for the wonderful work you did with him. We are very grateful.
After losing our beautiful, well behaved, five year old golden doddle Jazzie to cancer, we eventually decided that we had to bless our lives with another golden doddle. At 10 weeks old, we brought Finn into our lives. Over the next 9 months, Finn exhibited behavior which greatly concerned us…pulling hard on the leash, eating everything in his path, growling and snapping when we tried to get things out of his mouth and jumping/biting trying to get the leash to chew on during a walk. After many frustrating days, we knew we had to make a decision…let Finn move on or try to have him professionally trained. We love Finn and wanted to give him a chance. Through surfing the web, we found Steve Cohen/Tropical Dog Training in Bradenton, Fl. After a long phone conversation with Steve we decided to take the next step and visit his facility. We found Steve to be very knowledgeable and his facility very clean and professional. A few days later we arranged for Finn to be picked up and placed in his 3 week training program. Three weeks later, Finn was returned to us a new dog. Steve and Sarah spent almost 3 hours with us going through all steps of the training program to be continued. We were amazed with the Finn we got back. We can now greet guests at the front door while he sits patiently in place. He no longer gets up on the furniture or bed. He will drop objects that are not appropriate for him with just one command instead of growling and biting.
We truly couldn’t be happier with our new boy and would recommend Steve/Tropical Dog Training without hesitation to anyone.
Steve,
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. Midnight is now back at the dog park, running, swimming, playing with all his pup friends. He gets in the car by himself, thank you lord!
He now plays a minimum 2 hours a day and is in dog heaven!
Training going well, he does place very well, sit, no more jumping on people, etc. Walking going well, still will bark and gets excited when he sees people out, bikes etc. but much better than before. I believe with continued much needed exercise and training he will be one awesome dog!
Thank you again so much.
I have to say Steve this is one of your successes. We were about to consider sending our Jack to the pound, she was that unruly in the last year we found a private island that allows dogs. We have been there three times now her integration with other dogs has been exemplary she is a pleasure to be around. She is very intelligent and loves to be part of any family. I believe we could not have had this amazing dog without your help. She is ready for more of your input.
